The start of the Cistern trail provides spectacular views down to Malibu Creek State Park and the spiky-looking tops of Goats Buttes. After those gorgeous views you’ll be keen to hike down the lookout trail to explore more of this beautiful area! There are multiple trails that will allow you to hike to Saddle Peak in the Santa Monica Mountains. If you fancy a scenic treat-of-a-trail through Malibu Creek State Park, you can reach Saddle Peak via the Backbone trail. The Temescal Canyon loop is a fun, easy-ish hike on the edge of the Santa Monica Mountains, California. It will treat you to fabulous views of Los Angeles and the Pacific Ocean.
