Amazing walking holiday – Italian Dolomites

Amazing walking holiday – Italian Dolomites

I love walking, and I LOVE holidays, so as you can probably imagine, for me there is nothing better than a walking holiday!! Normally I enjoy planning and organising our travels too. Yet, when I planned our wedding a couple of years ago, I sort of ran out of steam for organising our honeymoon as well.

I had never visited the Alps before but loved the sound of the Dolomites with their spiky peaks. So we decided it would be amazing to spend a week exploring the stunning scenery in the Italian Dolomites. However I didn’t really know where to start with researching routes, booking hotels etc.  Also we didn’t really want to camp on our honeymoon. We wanted to relax in nice hotels, eat delicious food, drink good wine AND go hiking. Lastly I didn’t relish the idea of carrying all our luggage with us as we walked between locations.

In the end, after searching online, I found a tour company called Inn Travel. They offer really fun sounding, self-guided walking holidays (or cycling/driving/other holidays.) We decided to give them a go. We told them the area we wanted to walk, and then they found us hotels, suggested walking routes, sent us all the maps and information we needed and then booked all our hotels, transfers etc. They even arranged luggage transfers so we could set off from one hotel, climb a mountain, climb down into a new valley and find our bags checked in to our next hotel before us!

They gave us several suggestions for possible hikes each day, depending on how strong our legs were feeling. We tried some of the hard routes, and although we were not particularly fit, each walk was amaaaazing (and totally doable, even if it was exhausting.) All the walks are self-guided, so we went at our own speed, taking thousands of photos. We basically had a giggle without feeling like we were slowing anyone down.

The cost was slightly more expensive than if I have found and booked everything myself, but it wasn’t bad value. Their prices started from £730pp for 7 nights. This money was completely worth it! The walks and views around the Dolomites were simply magnificent, and the food served at the end of each day was also gorgeous.

This was one of the best weeks of my life. Plus we both lost weight, despite all the huge portions of gorgeous food! I cannot recommend Inntravel more. If you’d like to copy us, this was the holiday that we booked.

I should probably mention that Inn Travel did not ask me (or pay me) for this post. I really loved our honeymoon so I thought it’d be nice to share information about them.

Once I started to write this post, I realised that I have far too much to say, and far too many photos to squish into one post. I’ve written posts for each of the days and then add links to them below.

Day 1: We chose to Climb Mount Bulacia/Puflatsch

    1. We actually had two weeks, so the other week was more relaxing (in Greece.) I think we both liked the energetic week best.

    1. Thanks Brianna!

We did have a week attempting to relax by the beach as well, but the hiking half of our honeymoon was the most fun! 😉

The food in this area of Italy was fantastic too!
